currently one of my client uses the powerbi dashboard which directly connect source SQL (copied from erp as individual tables) and current dashboards are not user friendly, not self serving to business needs and contains multiple dashboard for internal vs external customer.

To overcome above issues & and to have Self Serving dashboard. i've purpose the Data model layer i.e Azure Analysis Service and Powerbi (just visualisation purpose). In AAS, we will built the central model with core business data and child data model for serving each business area with measure, KPI.

Azure analysis service can be like an online data model which will be easy to maintain and modify. Then it can be used along with powerBI to ingest data and analyze it. But make sure your data sources are supported by azure analysis service. Please check that in the below link
