if you are preparing for the 70-346 exam, usually azure ad connect is used to sync on-premise ad users, groups and objects and identities to the cloud. You need an domain as well as you can install azure ad connect in windows 10. But you need to create a virtual machine with windows server 2012 using Hyper-v feature on windows 10. Then only it is possible. this practices you cant do in your desktop environment.
