I'm working with VMware and Win8. Recently I installed Wireshark and henceforth my phone emulator is not starting: "the windows phone emulator wasn't able to connect to the windows phone operating system". I already uninstalled Wireshark (and WinPcap) but the problem remains the same. Any suggestions or solutions?

It seems you have adequately proven that the issue was something that was done installing Wireshark. You should reset your machine back to a state before installing Wireshark.
